LARSON • KING ATTORNEY NICK RAUCH TO ACCEPT AWARD AS 2021-2022 COMMITTEE CHAIR
The Defense Research Institute (DRI), a national organization of defense attorneys, has selected the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association (MDLA) Diversity Committee to win this year’s State and Local Defense Organization Diversity Award. The Diversity Award is given annually to one state or local defense organization, and is being awarded in recognition of the MDLA Diversity Committee’s significant efforts over the past year, including planning and executing a diversity seminar at CHS Field in St. Paul, hosting a lunch and learn series, and developing a law school initiative to place diverse candidates with clerkships at law firms in the Twin Cities.
“The MDLA Diversity Committee has done outstanding work over the past several years, and this award is a nod to their significant efforts” says Larson • King partner and 2021-2022 MDLA President Tony Novak. “Our own Nick Rauch has been a key voice and leader in that group, and has been one of the driving forces behind the Committee trying new things and finding new ways to bring value to MDLA and the legal community in Minnesota.”
As a Japanese-American attorney, Nick is proud of his heritage and understands the value that diversity brings to the legal profession. Nick helps lead diversity initiatives in other local and national organizations, including serving on the Outreach Committee for the Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association and as a member of the USLAW Network Diversity Council.
Nick has been recognized for his contributions by MDLA, winning the 2021 Deb Oberlander Award, which honors a lawyer who demonstrates leadership, professionalism, skills, and advocacy. Nick will also serve the MDLA on its Board of Directors going forward.
