Larson • King attorneys Paula Duggan Vraa and Jennifer Young won a victory at the Minnesota Supreme Court for their client, an insurance association created by statute. A reporter from the Star Tribune had sought access to information about the insurance association’s policyholders under laws that make most records of government agencies public. In a unanimous decision, the Minnesota Supreme Court ruled that the insurance association was not a state agency; rather it is an involuntary association of private insurers. As such, information about the association’s policyholders is private.
