Sam focuses his practice on business litigation, class actions, antitrust and unfair competition, and professional liability. Before joining Larson • King, Sam served two terms in a Judicial Clerkship at the Minnesota Court of Appeals with the Honorable Judges Louise Dovre Bjorkman, Francis Connolly, and Michelle Larkin. From his time as a judicial law clerk, Sam gained valuable insight into judicial decision-making, extensive experience in analyzing and deciding issues in complex litigation of all kinds, and practical legal writing experience under the tutelage of some of Minnesota’s most astute legal minds. Sam also has experience in the areas of commercial and business litigation, construction litigation, real estate, municipal law, and governmental decision-making gleaned from his work prior to his clerkship.
Sam graduated law school fourth in his class, summa cum laude, from Mitchel Hamline School of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota. While studying at Mitchell Hamline, Sam served on the Board of the Mitchell Hamline Law Review as a Managing Editor. Sam also competed for Mitchell Hamline in the 2019-20 ABA Negotiation Competition, earning a spot as a finalist at the regional competition. During his law school career, Sam was an active part of Mitchell Hamline’s legacy of clinical education by volunteering in the Criminal Expungement Self-Help Clinic and by assisting low-income clients with housing-related disputes in the Civil Advocacy Clinic.
Sam earned his B.A. magna cum laude from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where he double majored in English and Political Science and earned a minor in History. While at Luther, Sam was a varsity athlete on the football team and participated in multiple musical ensembles.
Outside of his law practice, Sam enjoys supporting Minnesota sports teams, taking in shows at the many performing arts venues in the Twin Cities, and being active in his local community.
