Carrie focuses her litigation and trial practice on the defense of professional liability claims and licensing board proceedings against physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers. Over the past 15 years Carrie has vigorously and successfully defended numerous professionals through trial. She also uses her skills at collaboration to effectively resolve cases that may not be suited for extensive litigation.
Additionally, Carrie provides consultation and guidance to health care organizations on ways to manage and mitigate exposure to claims. From counseling on issues relative to employment matters, such as the performance of professional and medical staff responsibilities, to ensuring compliance with federal and state statutory and regulatory mandates, to addressing practical legal issues arising from the interpretation and application of law and regulations to the operations of health care providers, Carrie provides well-thought out advice and counsel.
In addition to being involved in various professional organizations, Carrie volunteers with the Children’s Law Center, providing legal services to children in the foster care system, and with The Advocates for Human Rights.
Prior to law school Carrie worked in the financial services industry, analyzing and advising on financial strategies for individuals and small businesses.
Carrie enjoys traveling regularly and tries to apply the ingenuity and resourcefulness necessary for successful travel, and the related fun of discovering different ways of thinking and doing, to her practice of law.
